A lovely day fro a ride today. The weather was sunny and positively tropical
compared to last weekend. We had 15 bikes turn up for the meet - a good turnout
considering the frost in the air.
We travel the back roads to the A59 and then some
twisties through Whalley and Longridge to Preston. As we pull out of Whalley
there is an artic in front that two of us manage to pass. But then the twisties
start and the rest of the group get stuck for a couple of miles. Eventually
everyone passes the truck and we reach Preston and head up the A6.
With news that the café at Knott End may be shut, we call
in at Guys Restaurants just off the A6 near Garstang for lunch. Once we are all
suitably nourished we’re back on the bikes to head for our destination. Then as
we get near Pilling we are diverted from our main route. What a revelation. The
diversion takes us through some fantastic bendy single-track roads that I hope
to find again some day for another ride out in that area. We get to Knott End
and park up for some photo’s and a toilet stop for those who can’t hold their
drinks in for long.
Then we have a change of leader as Eric takes us to Fylde
Superbikes for a drink in the café there. But that café is shut, so we have a
browse at the bikes, then Malc leads us through Preston and onto the A59 towards
Ormskirk where we say our farewells and go our separate ways.
The roads stayed dry throughout the day and there wasn’t
too much traffic to hold us up. It was thoroughly enjoyable with the best
company anyone could wish for. Can life get any better than this?? We’ll see on
the next ride in three weeks.
A few photos to remember the day.
