The day promised to be cloudy and dry. Well, 50% isn't bad - it was cloudy but very damp - especially underneath the tyres.

We met at Poplar 2000 services in cloud and light rain. The weatherman said cloudy but dry. Still, thirteen riders braved the weather with some pillions.

The roads were damp as we set off for Southport via some twisty roads around Warrington, Wigan and Skelmersdale. The ride went well with the Buddy System working perfectly.

When we got to Southport we parked near the Pier entrance and surveyed our once clean steeds. You could only just tell what colour they were. The weather had really made its mark.

After some refreshments and photos we set off for the West Coast branches meeting place at Port Sunlight via the Birkenhead tunnel. By this time the roads had dried up, but we were in city traffic so couldn’t make the best of it. We reached The Bridge Inn and stopped for more food and drink. A big thank you to Peter for the discounted butties. When we were all suitably refreshed we said our farewells and set on our separate ways, with only three weeks to the next ride to look forward to.

Some pictures.

At the start - waiting for Mandy to finish her MsDonalds breakfast. Malc & Jean decide to have one last smoke....
After the first part of the ride, we get to Southport. Norma is the one with the red bib.
Inside the cafe, we go for the food in a big way !

Then Gary has a cake - and Jean decides to join in - and we have to decide how long her size 8 jacket will last !
Once outside, Gary and his Angels decide to pose for us on the roundabout.
Then, all the girls want to join in !
Next stop was Port Sunlight where more food was consumed.
