Today, we were off to Morecombe beach to visit the Ridesafe-Backsafe
exhibition. So, meeting up on a damp and windy morning, we had 5 hardy bikers
turn up. After some McDonalds refreshments (is that an oxymoron?), we set off up
the back roads to the sea. As we got nearer the coast the sun came out and it
got warmer. Very nice.
Once there, we parked up and wandered around. Lunch was next, so we found a
nice cafe and, apart from being insulted by the owner (which apparently he did
to all his customers), a very nice meal was swiftly devoured, followed by a well
deserved icecream.
Then, on to the slow biking trials. This was fun ! Brian was the first to
volunteer - not too bad. Then Mandy - umm, obviously not used to a small bike.
Then Gary - could do better. Then the star performer (yes, me) who managed to do
the slalom course in 5th gear (on the advice of the instructor, I hasten to
add). Last to go was Norma who managed 3rd gear and no foot penalties.
Another wander around and a go on the bike simulator (Val did better than
Gary) and we split up - us to to come home and Gary, Mandy and Brian, joined by
Malc and Val off to find another cafe.
During the day, we met up with Malc and Val from the club, Bob from the
VFR club and Terry Martin - our IAM/MAC instructor. So, quite a nice time was
had by all.
And, of course, a few piccies to liven up the day.
