Our first ride of the year - and what a nice ride it was. The weather forecast was good; as it turns out, they got it wrong AGAIN (you'd think they could forecast 24 hours with a reasonable accuracy). But we still had 18 bikes and 21 people turn up - which was great for the first ride of the year.

We set off just after 11am and had a good ride over the A and B roads to Glasson Dock. It would have been even better if there had been less cars on the road. The buddy system worked well and we didn't lose anyone. We arrived at Glasson Dock at around 12:30 and found a brilliant pub (The Dalton Arms) which I can heartily recommend to anyone who wants a good lunch and a warm welcome. I had a big lamb dinner  and Gary had a pound of Cumberland sausage - plus the obligatory sweet.

We set off back as the weather started closing in - so by the time we got to Settle, we were ready for a tea break. So we did - and had large mugs of hot chocolate and coffee to keep us going for the last leg home.

So, a great day out and an excellent start to the seasons riding.

Of course, the page wouldn't be complete without a few photos.

At the start - the bikes just kept turning up. We had the Panaracs, the BMW interlopers and our normal complement of Hondas and other makes.
John nearly ran me down - luckily, Vtec brakes are renowned ! And they kept coming in.
Inside we found more people
Outside, the hugs started - not sure about John and Brian though!
Then, on to Glasson Dock - where we abandoned the bikes as best we could
Inside, the food was soon arriving in vast quantities
Gary got jealous and had to steal a carrot from John
But was satisfied when his "small" portion turned up (with chips as well)
The rest of us soon tucked in too.
Apart from Brian and Mandy who had gone for a walk and got fisk and chips elsewhere (they don't know what they missed)
Gary was soon onto dessert - but Judy and Mandy soon got a sniff it and had to try some.
To recompense, Judy offered to clean everyone's helmet - what an offer !
Outside the pub, even Pete was feeling the cold - quick - get your coat on !!! [We don't think he was drunk!!]
And then on to Settle for a quick cuppa before we set off for home. The weather wasn't too good as you can see - but we were still happy.
