Easter Sunday and the weather looks great. So, an email around and we get 8 bikes turning up for the first of the "ad-hoc" rides. And what a great day it was too. 4 of us had new bikes and all four turned up on the old ones - me on my VFR, John on his Blade, Paeer on his CB1300 and Brian on his Daytona 595. So, off we zoom over the back roads to Slaidburn and Ingleton for lunch. We stopped at a viewing point (Gary, take note - this was popular) to admire the scenery for 5 minutes and then carried on to a nice pub in Ingleton for lunch. This was after I had led them all the way around the village to find the car park.

After a nice repast, we decided to travel over to Windermere to look at the boats. In hindsight, this may have been a mistake - the roads were crowded with tourists and day trippers and we averaged around 25 mph getting there. Once into the town, it then took us another 15 minutes to park up. Which was when Brian took to the curb (to avoid a bus he says) and hit the sump plug. After much panics and mutterings, Ian produced his toolkit and the offending bolt was tightened up and the oil leak stopped.

We then wandered around for a while, eating icecreams and watching the boats. The weather was superb. Which was a bit unfortunate when Brians bike then refused to start and I ended up pushing it (much tot he amusement of all the spectators) in full motorcycle gear. This proved to be unsuccessful  so once again Ian came to the rescue with some jump leads (we are expecting his boot to hold a barbeque, full picnic set and an outdoor cinema screen next time we go out). After putting some water in the battery, the bike sprang into life and we were off again - slowly down the A6. But we soon jumped onto the motorway to make some progress and ended up at a nice pub near Whaley where hot drinks were consumed and clothing exchanged (for that story, you need to come to a club night). Then home via a bit of a zoom down the A56 (just testing the rev limiter of my bike - honest...)

So, some piccies, courtesy of Brian and Mandy

The viewing stop. Very picturesque - with some nice bikes and scenery. Note Brian parked his bike away from us - who knows why????

Here's me showing off my new summer jacket
Then onto Ingelton - the bikes all in a line - until we moved them to a nearer car park.
Now for the repairs - John and Brian looking very professional (flat on their back with a bemused expression)
With the real professional - Ian - holding the tools....
Job done - so Ian looks smug and Mandy looks pleased
Then off to queue for an icecream
And a look at the boats
