Some tips for riding abroad. I'll add more as I find them
| Remember, you drive on the right. Not the left. |
| Make sure you know where you need to end up. |
| Learn how to map read and take a map with you. Don't rely on others.
When you really need them, they will have missed the turn and you will be on
your own. |
| Don't have more than 5 or 6 bikes in one group. Foreign drivers are not
used to us in large groups and tend to treat us as a challenge - get in our
way. A smaller number of riders in one place means less hassle. |
| Obey the traffic lights. Foreign drivers tend not to - so will run red
lights. If you start doing that too, chances of a crash are much higher. |
| if you get caught speeding, it's generally an instant fine. If you don't
have the money, the police take you to a cash machine. If you can't pay,
they impound the bike. |
| Loos in Europe are normally manned - and they want a tip. Have some
small change (or keep your legs crossed). |
