[Report from Gary and pictures from all]
The weather was cloudy and dull when I
started out. But it was dry. The forecast wasn’t too good and the Thundersprint
was on at Northwich, so I didn’t expect too many bikes turning up. At the
meeting point when we were ready to go there were twelve bikes with five
pillions.
As we passed Clitheroe, on the A59 we
were still pretty much together. Then I started get flashes from oncoming
traffic and further along saw the law enforcers with two cars and two bikes.
With so many bikes in our group they took great interest in us and one joined
the group on a sports bike. Luckily with radio contact with Derek at the back I
was informed of our new arrival and kept within the speed limits and the officer
left us at Gisburn. When we got to the motorway junction on the A65 Mandy lost
her footing as we stopped and her bike went over. Then the problem with Brian’s
arm came back, so after a short rest they left us for home down the M6.
We got to the destination at around
1.30 and after lunch had a look round for a couple hours partly spent in
torrential.
After a dryish start back the rain
started again and after tea in a pub near Garstang we spent the rest of the ride
in waterproofs.
Had a bit of a worrying point when I
thought Raphael (club mascot) was lost. But we found him at Malcs where he was
given to Phil and Rona who are taking him to Le Mans next weekend.
Another great day despite the rain and
thanks to those who have taken the photos.
