Around Wales

It was another rainy day for our ride into Wales for a play. But eight bikes, including new member Tony, with one pillion braved the weather. And for once, every bike was a Honda. The rain was only light and apart from farm muck on the road in some places, we could make decent progress.

We abandoned the plan to go straight into Wales to play and headed for Nantwich where we visited a Secret Bunker. Can’t say much about it as its secret. It took about 1 ½ interesting hours to get round by which time we were hungry and headed for the Medway Café just outside Whitchurch.

After dinner the clouds were thinning and we set off for Wales via Wem and Oswestry. We found some nice twisty lanes between Oswestry and Bala and as we reached Bala even Neil’s fumes had nearly run out. The bikes with short tank ranges filled up and we met at the car park near the lake.

The skies were clearing now and there were blue patches in between the clouds. And the roads were drying too. So we headed for Cerrigydrudion and Denbigh and onto the M56 and home.

Some piccies for perusal - thanks to Derek for taking these.

At the start - yes, it was raining - but we are HARD!!!
Well, OK, we like sheltering from the rain!!!
Got going and headed for the Secret Bunker. As we approached, the rain stopped. Note the happy faces and lack of watherproofs.
Then inside where Neil found his next mode of transport (well, there has to be one thing faster than a CBR600RR)
Then, a wander around to find out what the secret is.
And, of course, rounded off with a cuppa.
Ready for the off - yes, lets move on to LUNCH !
And so, on to the famous Midway Cafe.
Where Gary, remembering the fiasco from before, ate on his own.
And the others didn't.
Finally, into Wales, where the sun shone.
