This wasn't a ride (apart from Tony who didn't understand the instructions) but an afternoon out to try clay pigeon shooting. We all met up at the shoot at 1pm. We were told that it wasn't suitable for bikes and they were right. The road (sorry, dirt track), was full of pot holes and, in one place, was about a 25 degree slope to get up. Tony managed the first part on his CBR600 but sensibly avoided the next bit, parked up and walked the last 200 yards.

Once we were all assembled, we were split into 2 or 3 groups (it seemed to vary depending on who was talking) and went off with our shells, our earplugs and some guns between us. What followed was fun for most and not fun for one or two. Our beloved chairman was first to have a go and managed to hit one out of 4 clays. Not bad, he thought, until Geoff stepped up to the gate and managed 3 out of 4.  But as time went on, some got better and some got worse, and some just stayed good. The ladies had their own lightweight guns but fared no better (or worse) than the men.

Once that was all over, we did what Manhoc is REALLY good at - bacon butties and a cup of tea. Yummy. Then, pay the bill and wander off home.

It was a nice way to spend an afternoon. And, to show what we did, Judy took some pictures of us all!

Malc & Val show off their stylish ear plugs
Alan is shown how to fire the gun (and still missed) - Geoff was much better. Ian had a go but doesn't seem to be aiming anywhere near the clay....
Peters action didn't look elegant, but his accuracy couldn't be faulted. Tony looked very professional (and missed). Tony (the other one) and Bob also looked good.
We kept moving to different areas for shooting. Here, John is fighting the hedgerows, Malcolm has a go and Kevin finds all just too easy, so goes for a sit down with Mary.
How good is Val? What a pose! Karen, you could learn from Val.
Geoff got to play with a button and was happy for the rest of the day. Ian the decides that tea is a much better idea.
The boys return from their safari and John poses with his trophy (don't you just love the blue ears).
At last, it's time for the bacon butties. Karen finds a better sandwich filling (no, I don't mean that)
Who then proceeds to lap up Alan's hot chocolate - much to the amusement of everyone else.
Ahh - food!
