Report from Gary. I didn't make it due to other committments.

I will try to express how fantastic the day went, but it won’t be easy, because you would have to be there to share in the enjoyment.

When I got to the meeting point, I was the last of the eight members for the ride. After a drink and a chat, we set off about fifteen minutes late. Great stuff. That means we have to get a move on to make the time up. Apart from filtering through traffic in Buxton because of temporary traffic lights, we were making good progress. We got split up a bit after Ashbourne, but with the buddy system and radios it wasn’t a problem. Even when the road to Lichfield was shut and we had to follow diversions. But the diversion took us past the intended stop at a Garden Centre café. After much earache from those with sensitive posteriors we found a motorway café just off the A5.

Then off to Bruntingthorpe to the air museum. Some big planes and a race track. But they wouldn’t let us on the track because of a corporate party using it.

So we head for somewhere for tea and found a nice pub on the A6 in Kibworth Beauchamp where a nice gentleman told us about a nice biking road, the B6047. After a check on the map, (thats a large piece of paper with coloured lines on it, for those who rely on sat navs), I discover it’s the route I am taking. And what a nice road it is too. Have to find an excuse to do that one again.

The route home took us along the A50 and then through Cheadle and Leek and we all split up around Macclesfield. Gary, Paul, Phil and Peter headed for Knutsford and the A50 where they made really good progress to Poplar services and then made their separate ways home.

A great day was had with great weather, great roads and fantastic company.
