Squires Cafe

We got to the services early with no sign of any other bikes, so off we toddle for a coffee break before the masses arrive. When we get back outside there are lots of bikes and people waiting, (13 bikes and 4 pillions).

When the time comes to get going there is a bit of fuss around Mark’s Pan. It appears he has a slow puncture. After John has put air into the tyre, we discover that the leak is too much to carry on with the ride. So Mark calls for professional assistance while we get going and says he will join us at Squires if he can.

We keep pretty much together until we get to Holmfirth where the traffic lights split us up a bit, but after a short wait at New Mill we get back together again. We head for Wakefield and then take the motorways to Squires to avoid all the town and city traffic.

We arrive at Squires just around lunch time and head for the bar to order our meals. After a look around the shop and a drool at some bikes, we are ready to go, but just at that time, Mark and Cath arrive. So we wait for them to eat and all leave together.

The route home is through Tadcaster and Harrogate and down the A59 and then past Haslingden on the A56. We stop for fuel just outside Harrogate and a comfort break at a pub on the A59 where some of the group carry on home.

We head our separate ways when we get near to Manchester and look forward to the next ride. Great roads, great company! Thanks to all who joined in.
