This concept was dreamed up by Bob Newman, who is a well respected author of photography articles and a professor of computing. At the time of the planned DPReview demise, he planned a site to educate and enhance the knowledge of all photographic enthusiasts. At the same time, Alan Sharkey was putting together a forum to replace DPReview so that the members had somewhere to go to continue discussions. The two joined forces and The Photo (the name may change) was born.

Martin and Arvo soon joined us as Misago experts and CSS experts respectively - both keen photographers as well. Their expertise has helped keep the site going.

Pictures below show the team in action.

Alan's interest in photography started when he was very young.

He now owns lots of kit - mainly Fuji and Canon and likes landscapes.

He also plays with computers and does a lot with Scouting.

Forum Information

We have a wonderful discussion forum which anyone (once they are registered) can contribute to. This includes any comments you may wish to create or add plus any photos you may wish to upload. Click on the button to jump into there. A sample view is shown in the image.

We are a photographer's site concentrating in images, so we try not to limit your uploads. To that end, each person has a very large disk quota - currently 4Gb each. That should give you over 400 10mb files you can upload before your quote is reached.

The forum itself is slightly different to others you may have seen. The forum landing page shows all the forums, but in a nice compact view. But to save you all searching through the individual forums, you can just click on "Threads" at the top and it will show the most recent posts from ALL forums. Of course, you can still browse each forum individually, of you wish.
