Our rides

As I am sure you can guess, all our rides are interesting. We try and make a point of “going somewhere” rather than just bimbling around. We use something called “The Buddy System” to ensure we don’t lose anyone and you can see how that works on this page.

Our rides are generally every 3 weeks on a Sunday and you can see what are planned from this calendar move forward a month if you can't see any this month) and a list of rides here. All our rides are planned and you can download a GPX file from the rideslist page. Of, course, if the weather is particularily bad or there are circumstances where we cannot do what we planned, we will let you know via our facebook page (click the link above).

Our starting points are shown below. We always try and start from somewhere that has at least got a coffee shop and some toilet facilities.

Birch Services M62
These services are on the M62 between juntion 18 and 19.
We can use either the Eastbound ones (towards Hull) or the Westbound ones (towards Liverpool).
McDonalds, Haslingden/Rising Bridge
Also known as the Rising Bridge. This is a standard McDonalds in Haslingden with a large car park to the right of it. It’s on the A56 north of the M66 at a the first roundabout you come to once off the M66 motorway.
Poplar 2000
This is probably our most popular (no pun intended) starting point. It’s situated at the junction of the M6 (J20) and the M56 (J9) at the South of Manchester..
McDonalds, Hyde
Another McDonalds, this time at the end of the M53 motorway going East from Manchester. There’s also a Sainsburys petrol station just opposite.
We use this when we are going East as an alternative to Birch Services.
M61 Services, Northbound
These are the only services on the M61, just after Junction 6.
We use these when we are going on longer journeys, such as the N lakes or Scotland and need to get some miles underneath us before we start ‘playing’.
Greyhound Pub, East Lancs
We actually meet at the petrol station opposite the greyhound pub. It is up the East Lancs road (the A580) which Runs NW from Manchester. It has a small Subway there with loos.
We use this start point for evening runs and ad-hoc rides to nearby places.
